This info may help you lot if the following is true:
    - up until now youve had no problems when using your sd bill of fare

This is another one of those situations where it is not necessary to take farthermost measures such as doing a complete reformat, or outright replacing the cardevery bit suggested in the many threads on this field of study.

Here are the facts. Your sd menus file allocation table (Fatty) has some kind of fault. Its an android-matter that crops up in one case in a while. Because of this Fat fault, the card automatically gets mounted read-only, and no thing how many times yous become into settings and try to unmount/remount the card, information technology is to no avail.

    SOLUTION

    Fix the FAT
    - connect device to your PC (USB connection) and make sure information technologys set so that you lot can copy files to/from your computer (on my device in the notification console theresouth an selection to practice this nether USB continued)
    - on your pc, open windows explorer (or click on start->computer), so correct click on the mapped bulldoze to your sd card you lot may have to wait a minute or 2 for the mapping to have effect
    - select Properties
    - select Tools
    - select Bank check now (for fault checking) to automatically ready file organisation errors (no need to deal with bad sectors at this time)
    - when completed (takes a infinitesimal or so), the FAT volition be in working order once once more. No files are deleted during the process, and so no need to worry about that.
    - safely disconnect the device from your pc, at which indicate the sd menu will now be mounted read-write and yousre skilful to go

My SD card is on a photographic camera. I tried your technique, in addition to reformatting the carte du jour via computer, file sharing with "everyone", and none of these techniques work. I click off the grayed out protection and information technology comes back. File sharing with "everyone" appears to stick but does not. Interestingly enough, even though the menu is a grayed out "read-but", I tin can nevertheless manipulate the disk directories and files on the computer. The sharing info shows the computer name.

If you take the Fatty problem more than than once, information technology could be an indication that the carte is going bad. (The Fatty is one of the most written-to areas on the card.) At that point, make sure that y'all have every single file that you may ever want backed up onto your estimator. And then when the Fat finally goes bad (and if it's a good manufacturer, they may even replace the carte for free), you won't lose your information.

Remember, even though SD cards have a huge number of write cycles, it IS a finite number, and every SD card will eventually become bad. Y'all can replace the carte, but you lot can never replace the picture of your granddaughter'due south offset pace. Data you don't have backed upward to at least 2 independent places is data that you really don't demand.

this is above technique not working
    how to repair this
whatever other trick what can I do plz assist bro....

Endeavor putting the card into a card reader and plugging that into the reckoner. It should come up every bit a bulldoze letter of the alphabet. Follow the instructions from at that place.

If the card doesn't come up (simply other cards in the same card reader do), or the card shows an mistake and doesn't come, the card itself may be bad. (There'southward a whole computer in that piffling card.) In that case, contact the card manufacturer. (In cases like that, it pays to buy SanDisk cards - they're very easy to deal with when a carte du jour goes bad [which is rare].)

Non So Easily! I bought a new SD Card and re-installed all my music files. It, of [SOLVED] [ANDROID] What to do if sd card is mounted read-only/can't write to the sd card-bad-sd-card.jpgcourse, still said "read only" and created a problem with apps that want to access it like camera. So I tried your suggestion on my win 8 reckoner. The telephone showed up every bit a CD Rom then no fix option. I put the SD bill of fare in a usb holder and that showed up as Bulldoze Due east: I then ran chkdsk and stock-still it. NO BENEFIT. I then put the sd card back and Reformatted it and reinstalled my music files. NO BENEFIT. Nevertheless Read Merely on the phone. I then downloaded "SDFormatter" and let that format the deejay and again installed my music files. "NO BENEFIT nevertheless read only and creating errors.

Any other ideas? It is Not Likely the new carte du jour and I have formatted it plenty. It seems it has got to be the phone. However without the sd card the telephone works flawlessly! BTW, when the SD Card is installed the phone reports in the notification box "686%" every bit processing land of the mounted SD Carte du jour! That and the Read Only are the notable errors.

sadly your post didn't piece of work equally once i select the drive in windows explorer, i can practise "backdrop", simply "tools" is not bachelor.
at present, i can see the files in my download binder from my PC and from my phone. even access them (they are downloaded movies: .mp4 and .flv). in the past (with KK and lollipop) i could download, delete, move, etc... my files via my phone or via my calculator. now it seems that i can download the file, but i cannot delete it (neither via telephone or via desktop).
on phone it says: "bank check to brand certain it's not mounted as read merely", just one time i cheque information technology via PC, it'south not checked as read-merely. if i endeavour to delete via PC, it only says it couldn't and to either skip file or stop. something i never had before.
i checked with ConnectBot to come across that i am indeed rooted. "quickboot" doesn't piece of work, although that may exist considering of lollipop, every bit i hadn't tested it earlier i had the read-only issue.

in other words, i can download files, simply i cannot delete them. somewhen i will run out of storage.
i tin can as well not find the "tools" pick, every bit it's just not bachelor.

If it's a SanDisk card, go to SanDisk microSD Tech Support and open a live conversation (box at the upper right). They'll replace defective cards.

Samsung probably volition likewise, only getting to them isn't as like shooting fish in a barrel as getting to SanDisk.

Other manufacturers? Since they're using Samsung or SanDisk chips in their cards (there are no others), who knows?
